Maybe The Best Google Video Ever?

written on 23 March, 2007 by Dawud Miracle

I found this video on Digital Inspiration today. It’s short and worth the watch.

Check out MasterPlanTheMovie.com for more details.

But the question I have, do you think this video accurately depicts Google’s plans?

Interesting vid. I don’t really worry about the personal data Google collects. If they monitor us to better target ads towards us then thats up to them, I really don’t believe there’s anything more to it. I’ll leave it to the conspiracy theorists to accuse Google of sinistar big-brother type activities.

However I do get concerned about the absolute dominance Google holds in the search field. People don’t search any more, they Google. It is almost a search monopoly, which means Google holds all the cards. This, IMO, is a lot more dangerous than any big brother conspiracy theories.

Absolutely. Everyone thought Bill Gates was the AntiChrist, but it’s actually Google. It will take over the world, and we’ll have to tatoo Google 666 on our foreheads if we ever want to surf the internet again.
Okay… not really, but I agree with Aaron. Competition is healthy. I’m going to go over to Ask.com and do some searching now.

A little freaky, but I do have ultimate faith in the power of heart tied to the Divine, regardless of man’s machinations.

    Aaron,

I really don’t know for certain whether this video is true or not. Just found it interesting enough to want to share with you and start the conversation – perhaps to learn something.

    Randa,

One thought, what’s going to happen when Google launches their own operating system that competes directly with Windows? They already compete with Word, Excel and Outlook. And the talk is the OS is coming…

    Stuart,

Yeah, I know. We’ll have to see how this runs its course.

  • Randa Clay Mar 26, 2007 at 7:42 am

I think Google may be the one company who could release an operating system and stand a chance of competing against Microsoft.

  • Dawud Miracle Mar 26, 2007 at 8:07 am

    Randa,

I agree. The word I’ve heard is that Google is working on an ‘operating-less’ computer where the OS would be accessed through an internet-type network. Sounds interesting, huh?

  • Randa Clay Mar 26, 2007 at 8:35 am

That would be fine until you couldn’t access the internet for some reason. When our internet goes out, the few times it has happened, at least I can work on designs/code, etc.

    Randa,

Yeah, I agree. Not sure about the long-term vision of Google. I’m not sure anyone is. Perhaps this OS would be only for the web and could exist side-by-side with Windows. Don’t know. But it would make the sense that we need an offline OS as well.

There are lots of Google rumours flying around but I think the reality is they are leading the pack in creating a 100% online storage world.

The following quote is taken from an official Google presentation:

As we move toward the “Store 100% reality, the online copy of your data will become your Golden Copy and your local-machine copy serves more like a cache.

    Thought-provoking. Nice fine, Dawud.

    Aaron,

I agree. Not rumors, but fact, that Google, for instance, is buying as much fiber cable as they can. Why? I have a bunch of guesses…control?

Who knows what Google’s Master Plan really is. I probably care more right now about my own Master Plan for the next stage of my business.

    David,

Thanks. What are your thoughts on Google’s Plans for world domination?

Thanks for the link Dawud. I am not overly worried about privacy… we should probably accept records and tracking as a part of modern life.

It is rather scary though to think that Google has grown to 1/3 the market cap of Microsoft in such a short time. I find myself hoping that Microsoft offers some stiffer competition with Live.com.

This is really a controversial subject. It was the first time I watched this video. I also have a project on Google’s privacy policies and I am researching for this. But there are many buts actually, it is very easy to create new conspiracies before thinking logically. If another company doesn’t compete with google and its clever investments to create new technologies than nobody should question google with what it does. Competition always creates better so people should start at least trying to compete with them even it is a better chance of losing it.

    Caroline,
Me so much either. I’m putting myself out across the blogosphere for God sakes…

    Mert,
Yeah, I hear you. But I see no reason not to monitor what Google’s doing. That do have a massive advantage in collecting information about people. Personally, I’m not so worried about what they’re doing and I’m not really into conspiracy in the first place. But it’s good to know what’s under Google’s woolen garment.
