I got a great little piece across my feed reader today. Teresa Valdez Klein over at Blog Business Summit wrote what she calls her Golden Rule of Blogging:
If you wouldn’t want it written about you, don’t write it about someone else. If you wouldn’t approve it in your comments section, don’t write it in someone else’s.
I second the motion - as have many others. Blogging is an absolutely unequaled method for creating relationships, building community, sharing your interests and marketing your business. It’s a shame that there’s so much name-calling and ‘cat-fighting’ to be found in the blogosphere.
Perhaps we can all learn a little something about how to play nice and get along. Of course that doesn’t mean with have to agree with each other all the time. There’s certainly room for differing opinions and conflicting perspectives. And we can debate without hitting below the belt.

Great point. I have been amazed and frankly pleasantly surprised at the generosity and mutual support among bloggers. Even with competitors! I think that is a key value of the relationship and connection building that is possible by blogging. Thanks!
Yes. That’s one of the unique features of blogging. Relationship building is what makes the blogosphere (still a funny term) as fresh, exciting and powerful as it is.
I realise this is an old post, but I just have to agree. Now if only people would apply the same advice when they get behind the wheel…! I guess the net can be a bit similar in that you feel insulated from reality, and thus come out with stuff you ordinarily wouldn’t.
