In the company I work for, I’m in the marketing department and, yes, word of mouth is a good way of spreading the word about what you’re selling. But it seems different for online small businesses. Somehow it seems that the word advertise is unclean or dishonest or something. While I haven’t quite put my finger on it, it is obvious that online small business tend to look at advertising differently. I would say it is really difficult to achieve the word-of-mouth effect with a help of social networks. People spend tons of dollars on Facebook advertisement but only 1 or 2 of them actually success. Therefore, word-of-mouth is the final stage (the greatest) that you can get out of your marketing
campaign.
