Hard to believe, but it’s true.
Normally, I post almost daily. But this is my first post in a week. WOW! And you know what, the blogosphere didn’t curl up and wither away without me.
Not only did it continue without me, it seems to be thriving. Just going by my own traffic stats and comments, I still had healthy activity on my blog during my absence (thanks, by the way).
I know, I know….what amazing, exciting adventure did I have that kept me away from my blog for almost a week?
I can’t tell all the details, but it had something to do with a birthday (mine), seeing an old friend (my spiritual teacher), celebrating the coming birth of our third child (4 weeks away), getting out of the construction zone (kitchen remodel) and swimming (my daughter now firmly believes she’s a frog).
Funny thing, I purposely didn’t take my laptop because I didn’t want to be tempted to work too much. I had all intentions of blogging from the business center at the Embassy Suites we stayed at. However, it was closed for remodeling – something I didn’t think about asking before we booked. So, no computer access….no blogging. And yet without me, the blogosphere continued.
Just goes to show me that while I sometimes believe I live at the center of the universe, the truth is I’m orbiting something much bigger than me.
It was a nice break. But now, as they say, back to work.

Welcome back! Everyone needs time away to recharge – even those of us who consider the keyboard as an extension of our fingers.
Congrats on the upcoming child Dawud – my wife and I are expecting our first child in 4 weeks as well (October 9 to be exact).

I missed you but figured you were taking a well-deserved break.
I too have not posted much recently due to other important things in life (not vacation, yet though). From a coaching perspective one of the things I most like about being away from our routine is that it’s a reminder (for us and everyone else) that we live well-rounded lives. Yes, what we do in the blogosphere is important, yet it’s simply a part of our larger contribution. Thanks for helping me make this connection to remind myself that a “break” is okay for many reasons.

Absolutely. Balance (way overused term) is vital to a healthy and rich life. Blogging has its place – just like eating and sleeping. It’s great to get that perspective now and again.
Adding this thread to my recent “Conversation” entitled How do you come back from a blog layoff (my name is direct link to post).
Being “forced” to have a blog layoff is one thing (vacation, illness, other events out of the blogger’s control), but how does one come out of a blogger’s block (is that a coinable phrase?
) Thinking that is what really got me on the track of asking that question.

Great question. I’m guessing that it’s about time I had a blogger’s block. Not looking for it, per se, but would guess it’s about time. Maybe not…

It’s amazing. You’ll love it. As everyone says, it’ll be the most challenging thing you’ve ever done, while you’re loving every minute of it. Enjoy. We’ll soon have three and it only gets better.

I am not sure if I should say welcome back or not, because I have also been away for a few days, but not like yourself.
I have been alone with my kids for five days, and I have only been using my computer for about 30 minutes or so after they have fallen a sleep.
That was enough time for me to publish a short post, but not enough to really be a part of the blogoshpere.
It`s great to be away, but even better to be back

That’s the great thing about the web – even when you’re not there, people can continue to enjoy your content. I groaned a little at the business center being closed for remodeling, though. It seems like every time I go to a hotel, something is closed for remodeling. Either hotels take forever to remodel things, or they do it entirely too often.
