Back on March 28 I wrote about how you’ve helped me create some good conversations. The day before I received my 750th comment – which I felt was a big milestone. Then Phil inspired me by writing about his 1000th comment from Carma Dutra.
And now, less than three weeks later, and I’m thank you for 1000 comments. Wow!
From the beginning, I’ve set out to make healthywebdesign.com dmiracle.com about conversation. I wanted to offer you good content that encouraged your thoughts, ideas, feedback and debates. It looks like we’re well on our way. So THANK YOU taking the time to comment.
So, do you want to know who number 1000 was? Well, it was Robert Hruzek. Here’s a photo of Robert. Handsome fella, huh? Though he does look a bit blue. Perhaps you could stop by and leave him a little blog love.
I poke around Robert’s blog, Middle Zone Musings and found some nice posts. Here’s a few you might find interesting:
- Fear of Flying
- Blogging Mistakes, Part Deux
- Blogging Mistakes, How Not To Run A Contest
- A Different Point of View
- A Logic Bomb
- And his Great Quotes Series
Thank you, Robert, for being the 1000th commenter. And, again, thank you to each of you who have joined in the conversation here at dmiracle.com. I hope this is just the beginning. Well, seeing as how I received more than 20 comments over the weekend, while I was away, it’s humbling to say it seems like this IS really just the beginning.
I know that David Airey recently passed 1000 comments. And others have too. Some day, perhaps, we’ll figure out Liz Strauss’ magic and get 1000 comments a day with her Tuesday Open Mic Nights. And on our way, I’m grateful for your comments.
I‘d love to hear how commenting is going on site? What are some of your best conversations? Feel free to leave links. If they get caught in my spam filter, I’ll free them.
Robert Hruzek says
Dawud, why, it’s an honor just to have been nominated… (er, oh sorry, wrong acceptance speech.)
Hey, great milestone, my friend! It’s ironic (which as you know, means “made entirely of iron”) that it was my very first comment at your site as well.
And definitely won’t be the last!
Cheers!
Dawud Miracle says
Robert,
Little did you know, huh? I think it’s pretty neat that my 1000th comment came from you being a first-time commenter. That warms my heart a bit.
I’ll see you around soon. Thanks for joining the conversation.
Liz,
Thanks. I’m getting there. And new developments and shifts on top of that. The next few months should be fun.
Thanks for your continued support. See you at SOBCon07 in a few weeks.
Liz Strauss says
Congralations, Dawud! It doesn’t surprise me! You bring out the conversation in folks.
1000 comments a day. . . . too funny. 🙂
I’m so delighted that your blog is becoming such a lovely reflection of who you are.
Chris Cree says
Congratulations, Dawud! I’m closing in on that 1,000 mark myself and didn’t even realize it. I bet Liz has to add a zero (or more) to that figure!
Karin Karin H. says
Hi Dawud
Congrats. 1000 comments is 1000 conversations, good show!
(Why doesn’t it surprise me that Turtle Bob’s first ever comment here makes the 1000 full ;-))
(In 6 months time I ‘only’ got as far as posting 100 posts on the Kiss2 blog, which I only noticed accidentally yesterday ;-))

Chris,
Thanks. Let us know when you cross the threshold, too.
And Liz, it would be interesting to know how many comments she’s gotten. She really gets how to have a conversation on her blog. I watch her intently – even when I’m not commenting.
That’s right Liz, I’m watching you…
Karin H.,
Let me tell you a secret…(begin whisper) I don’t really care about the numbers, really. I’m in it for the relationships, the sharing, the mutual learning and the conversations. (end whisper) 1000 comments just seems like a nice time to thank everyone who’s participated. I simply feel grateful that so many people have found my blog to be helpful to them.
Karin H., you’ve been a big part of this. Thank you, especially, for carrying on the conversation.
Karin Karin H. says
I know you don’t ‘count the beans’, neither do I
And your last remark makes my blush, I’m just here to learn and to enjoy the conversations.
Dawud Miracle says
Karin H.,
And that’s exactly why I started blogging. Just know that I learn from you as well.
Liz Strauss says
Hi you guys,
I’ve been blogging longer and I talk so much . . . and all of you are right the numbers don’t count what counts is what happenes to me every day.
Someone write soemthing that stops me and makes me think. Or some says something so beautiful that just go “wow.” Regularly, someone says something that when I reply I get a tear in my eyes, because the words have touched me so.
It’s people in this thread. It’s the voices. It’s the hearts. It’s the souls. It’s all of us and not one of us is a number.
But then we all already knew that. 😉
I just like to talk. That’s how I get so many comments. 🙂
Liz Strauss says
Where’s my proofreader, Alexander, when I need him, again?
Dawud Miracle says
Liz,
As you know from our phone conversations – I like to talk too. I think that’s one reason why conversations on my blog works for me as well.
What I want from my blog is conversation leading to relationship with my readers. So I’m genuinely interested in ‘my readers’ as the people they are with the ideas and perspectives they have. I certainly feel blessed to be able to meet people through my blog.
Phil Gerbyshak says
Dawud:
First, congrats to you on reaching 1000 comments. You are a GREAT conversationalist, and I look forward to meeting you at SOBCon.
Second, it’s obvious to me you are interested in people, not just numbers. That’s obvious in the fact you take the time to respond to comments. Each comment. And you develop the relationship, ask questions, go off your blog and comment on others blogs, and all in all, are doing amazing work.
Thanks for blessing us with you. You are a gift to us all!
Maki :: Dosh Dosh says
Congrats! Dawud.. I recently broke 1,000 myself a while back 🙂
And I recently cracked 200 comments on a single post which was totally inspiring, even though most of the people on that post commented entirely for their own benefit hehe..
David Airey :: Creative Design :: says
Well done, Dawud! It’s no surprise for me.
You’ve reached that mark much faster than I did, and I can fully understand why.
Keep it up, and give me a shout next month when you hit the 10,000 mark!
Sarakastic says
Congrats on the big milestone! I wonder if it’s like anniversaries, the higher the number the bigger the present, you should go buy something made of gold.
Dawud Miracle says
Phil,
Thanks. You hit the nail on the head. Just who I am is about relationships. I’m glad that’s being translated to my blog.
Maki,
Thanks. 200 on one post. Man, I’m about to break 50 on an older post. Sweet. Congrats.
David,
Thanks David. Next month??? I think that would be nice. And, I’m enjoying the slow and steady progress I’m making. But, what the heck, I’d love to see how I would manage 10,000 comments in a month.
Dawud Miracle says
Sarakastic,
Thanks. Gold would be fine.
Char says
Dawud – as I always say – it is the little victories that keep us moving forward. Congratulations on this one and here’s to many more!
Dawud Miracle says
Char,
I agree. Thanks. What’s interesting is that Robert left the 1000th comment last Friday evening. By Monday morning I had 23 more comments. And by Monday night I had 1050 comments. I love conversation and it looks like you all do too. Thank you.
