Blogging is addicting, huh?

If it’s not the huge traffic increases or the comments, it’s the potential that your next post will create a huge buzz that will increase your business.

I’ll admit it, like Daniel Scocco, Maria Langer, Pieter Vangils, and Mi I’m addicted to blogging. I think of blogging all the time. I think of how I can write about events in my life or in my business on my blog. And I think about all the great relationships I’ve been fortunate to create with all of you (thanks, btw).

So when I started seeing this quiz, How Addicted To Blogging Are You, I had to take a look. The quiz is short (14 questions). The questions are easy. And the results are staggering…

71%How Addicted to Blogging Are You?

It appears I’m a 71% blog addict. The question is…what does it mean? Perhaps that’s where I can use your help.

And I am thankful I never started the coffee habit.

I’m 64% addicted. That’s more than I expected, because I only post once a week to each of my two blogs. I do object to the term addicted, though. Passionate or enthusiastic strikes me as being more appropriate.

“The question isโ€ฆwhat does it mean? Perhaps thatโ€™s where I can use your help.”

I now have a regular schedule for blogging.
I used to just go blog anytime I want, but ever since started student timetable for my activities. Now, I get to it before I go to sleep or right when I get back home from school–either get it out of the way immediately or save it for later. ๐Ÿ˜€ I hope that helps.

  3. Leigh says

I am 81% addicted and proud of it! Like you I am always thinking of ideas for blogging, no matter where or what I am doing.

I think blogging has really changed and enriched my life for the better ๐Ÿ™‚

    Jean,

I understand. I’m guessing that the quiz author would find more of a viral effect from addicted then from passionate.

    Mi,

I hear you. I also most often follow a publishing schedule – though it’s slipped a bit the past two weeks due to a heavy work load.

What I was asking is how would you interpret the results of the quiz?

    Leigh,

I agree whole-heartedly. I was just talking to Wendy Piersall today about the depth of relationships I’ve made with other bloggers and how it compares to the friends I’ve made otherwise. It’s interesting how easy it can be to build relationships when like-minded people come together.

    Are you finding this similar?

  5. Mi says

    uwaa..

I would interpret that then as either you have a lot to talk about, or you like writing, or you like sharing thoughts. ๐Ÿ˜€

In my case, I like to ramble on…

    Mi,

Ramble, huh? Why do you feel you like to ramble?

I wonder if it means that much of the time I’m thinking about my blog. I know that much of the time I’m thinking about my business. And now my blog is a major part of the growth of my business. So it makes sense.

And, I really love the conversations and relationships that I’ve built through my blog. It’s truly been one of the surprises that I had no idea would happen.

  7. April Groves says

Hi, my name is April, and I am a blog addict.

95% to be exact…but some of the questions were kinda different…like the coming up with random ideas at odd times…that doesn’t apply to just blogging – I think up crazy stuff all the time!

Lots of fun…now I have to go blog about my blogging addiction!

  8. Karin H. says

    Hi Dawud

Yesterday at Phil’s I took the test too. 78% !

That’s about right, I am ‘addicted’ because I use it as a tool for ‘webmarketing’ my business, learning about other/newer/better business practises etc.
Not an terrible addiction, just another practical tool to grow business/personal ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. Karin H. says

Oh, hadn’t noticed the other ‘test’. (Thanks Char ;-))
73% coffee addict. Now that I can understand – but a lot of people here in the UK (mostly tea drinkers can’t ๐Ÿ˜‰

    April,

    Hi April.

This might be one addiction that doesn’t need treatment. But if so, I know someone…

    Karin,

I’m the same way. I pay so little attention now to my static content that it’s actually in need of major updating. But I never get to it because I’m spending the time blogging.

    Char,

Yeah! I don’t think I could give up blogging now either.

    Karin,

Coffee…I’ve tried it a bit. Can’t really get the taste of it. Even with sugar, honey or milk. I do, sometimes, however, like a shot of turkish coffee. I know it makes no sense. But there’s a big story behind it.

  11. Phil Gerbyshak says

Even more than being addicted to the blogging, I’m addicted to creating new ideas, sharing them with good friends, and meeting many new ones. Definitely a lot worse ways to live a life than that ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Adam Donkus says

Its all about achieving balance in life.

Oh, I like the other tests they have on that site as well. My body was worth $3790. I would have to argue the validity of the tests. But they are fun.

  13. Dawud Miracle says

    Adam,

I did most of test too. My body was worth $5875, my blog was Rated G, I got an ‘A’ on my 8th Grade Science test, I have a 79% change of surviving a zombie apocalypse, and I’m a pretty darn good speller. Not to mention, I know quite a bit HTML & CSS. I fell only 6 short in the CSS quiz.

    Phil,

I hear you on that. That’s why I’m blogging, actually.

  14. Adam Kayce : Monk At Work says

    55% addicted.
    I’m worth $5250 (dead).
I suppose I love my family too much to score above a 53% on the zombie apocalypse quiz, but I’m a darn good speller (87%).
And I got an 80% on the Film Critic quiz.

    Watch out Ebert!

  15. Carol L. Skolnick, Clear Life Solutions says

Only 62% addicted? That’s probably because blogging competes with my email addiction. I’m also addicted to MyBlogLog.com – always checking my hits, seeing who had visited me, where they came from. I think my score would go up if there had been a question about that. (And whose fault is THAT addiction, Mr. Miracle?) ๐Ÿ™‚
